WRAParound can be summarized by the proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”. To help your child and family better manage challenging situations, your Care Manager will use a team approach guided by the 10 Principles of WRAParound:
1. Family Voice and Choice
Your family’s and child’s ideas, preferences, and values are most important in the Wraparound Process.
2. Team Based
Your family chooses who will be part of a team, called the Child and Family Team (CFT), to support your family in achieving goals.
3. Natural Supports
Friends and supports from the community are strongly encouraged to be part of your CFT.
4. Collaboration
CFT members work together and share responsibility to create a plan with achievable goals for your family.
5. Community-based
The CFT finds different ways in your community to help your family achieve the set goals.
6. Culturally Competent
The Wraparound Process respects and builds on the values, preferences, beliefs, culture, and identity of your child, family, and community.
7. Individualized
No two plans are alike; your child’s Plan will be specific to his/her strengths and needs.
8. Strengths Based
The Wraparound Process and the Wraparound Plan identifies the positive skills of each member of the CFT and builds upon them to help your family reach its goals.
9. Persistence
Despite challenges, the CFT continues to work toward the goals of your family until Care Management Services are no longer needed.
10. Outcome Based
When creating the Plan, the CFT makes sure there are clear ways of measuring the goals identified by your family. The Care manager continuously monitors the strategies to make sure they are helping your family reach those goals.
